Hi Friends,
Recently I came across a big issue with Vodafone and Xiaomi (Poco, Mi, Redmi) Phones. The issue is that, messages to a particular number is being forwarded to another phone which has another company SIM card. For example, My SMS messages being received at my Elder Paternal Uncle’s phone.
I have been using up Samsung A30 since a year. My Elder Paternal Uncle had Redmi Y2 and as it had board related network issues, we put it for exchange and bought a new Poco M2 Pro. While purchasing it at local shop, for activation, I have provided my Vodafone Prepaid SIM Card for 1st time checking. At that time, it seems like the shop guy has activated Mi Messages in Poco M2 Pro which comes inbuilt with the SMS Messaging app of all Xiaomi Phones.
Later after reaching home, I changed the SIM Card of mine to my phone and his SIM Card to new Poco M2 Pro. Later that day, When I purchase something online via my number, the purchased order SMS is not received to my phone rather it is being received at my Elder Paternal Uncle. I thought, that it might be some issues with Vodafone network or might be some issue at forwarding point.
I have contacted Vodafone network and all the companies I purchased and enquired and asked to verify for bug. But all responded that there is no bug and it seems to be a new type of issue. Later after a week, I got to check my elder paternal uncle phone’s SMS Messaging App Settings. Where I could find the my number being stored at Mi Messages Settings. Once I disabled or removed it from his phone, I tried ordering food from Zomato and paid via GetSimpl Pay Later. At this moment, SMS is received to my phone. The problem is solved at this moment.
How to resolve the issue and also, Enable/Disable Mi Messages?
- Open SMS Messaging App in your Xiaomi Phone.
- Tap on the Settings icon at the top.
- Scroll to the bottom to find, Sync messages from Xiaomi Cloud and Tap on it.
- You can now find the numbers attached with the SMS Messaging app.
- If you have Dual SIM with the phone, 2 numbers will be displayed.
- If you have more than 2 number, Please disable/remove the one which is not yours.
